Yes, I realize that the discovery had been made about a week ago. I've been busy starting a new (part-time, but at least I'm working) job and spending money on Christmas and all that fun stuff. So the mice. Turns out, the mice have been nowhere to be found (so I'm crossing my fingers hoping they are actually like the mice on Cinderella and are working on some fabulous ensemble for me to wear and are cleaning up after themselves). My grandpa had a theory that there were squirrels in there, and the squirrels are also nowhere to be found. Turns out that we had......BATS.
Ugh, yes...bats. I'm pretty sure there are no nice movie references to bats. Most bats are actually evil vampires are they end up sucking your blood and whatnot. I guess Bartok in Anastasia wasn't too terrible. He turned out to be a not so bad bat.
If you do not understand that reference I am really disappointed in you. Oh, and NO...Anastasia is NOT a Disney movie. My goodness, the amount of people that do not understand that. Oh, and side note...Balto is NOT a Disney movie either.
Anyway, back on topic. Instead of having a bat like Bartok (not too terribly bright, gives terrible advice...) I had a real one. A real bat that somehow got caught on a sticky mouse trap (that is beyond me). Ick, bats are just gross and I cannot stand them. However, since the bat had been caught I have heard no noise of creatures running around. Success? I really hope so.
Next time there is some crazy animal running around my house, can it be something awesome. Like, hey, how about someone makes sure that its Pascal from Tangled. That guy was awesome. Though if he is not 100% like Pascal, then I don't want him.
I guess it's safe to assume that I wish my life was an animated movie...ha
Yes, I have made the recent discovery of mice in my house. Ok, I think they are in my house. There was the sound of scampering above my head as I was in my living room watching netflix. I am almost hoping it's mice, but it sounded kinda big so I have no clue if it really is. As I am listening to the feet run around above my head all I am thinking about is how terrified of mice I am. Yes, I know. It's a pretty stereotypical fear for a girl. But in all honesty, my expectations of mice were pretty much crushed as a young child. I was expecting sweet and innocent mice, like in Cinderella. Instead, they are creepy and gross. And super sneaky.
I mean come on. How can you not love these guys?? Here's how I know that the mice in this house (and pretty much all other houses) are evil:
1) Where's my fancy dress? Cinderella's mice cared deeply for her and when they discovered that she would not be getting her wish of going to the ball (thanks a lot evil Stepmother and Stepsisters. Way to assign more chores) they worked on the dress for her and finished it. And she loved it. Then her step family ruined it but that is besides the point. The mice showed such a kind gesture for Cinderella, and the mice here are not doing that for me. In fact, no mouse ever has showed me a kind gesture. The kindest gesture they've shown me is by being dead by the time I see them, and that's only kind because the I know they are no longer running around.
Look at those kind, thoughtful mice. They work so hard.
2) I am pretty sure the mice were kind enough to clean up their own mess. You never saw poop anywhere, and after the whole making of the dress there is not a bit of a mess left for Cinderella to clean. I am pretty sure that they helped her out quite often because they felt she was overworked. What mouse has ever helped you clean up? Yeah, I can't think of a single one either.
3) The mice in Cinderella sang quite often, especially while they worked. And they were pro-Cinderella songs. They were songs about how to help Cinderella. Pretty sure the mice here aren't singing, and if they are then they aren't nice songs.
Can I have these mice please?
4) Obviously, these mice in Cinderella are the nicest mice ever. Pretty sure they put their lives into their own hands to get some of that trimming (darn that cat) and they would do anything for Cinderella. They were probably quiet at night, and they were friendly when they saw Cinderella. Now I haven't seen these supposed mice yet, but I am pretty sure they won't be nice to me if I see them.
5) Gus. You honestly can't have a better mouse than Gus. He's just awesome. If one of these mice that I think are living in my house is like Gus then I'll be a little nicer to them and will think twice before setting traps out for them.
He's just too much. I love him.
Instead of these fabulous mice that Cinderella had, I am pretty sure I am dealing with super evil mice that want to take over the world or something.
Heck, I'd even take Fievel
Or...Stuart Little
But alas, my mice are definitely not like them. Thank you media, you have given us such wonderful mice to dream of having in our house, but the real mice are just awful.
In his New York Times bestselling novel, David Levithan introduces readers to what Entertainment Weekly calls a "wise, wildly unique" love story about A, a teen who wakes up every morning in a different body, living a different life.
Every day a different body. Every day a different life. Every day in love with the same girl.
There’s never any warning about where it will be or who it will be. A has made peace with that, even established guidelines by which to live: Never get too attached. Avoid being noticed. Do not interfere.
It’s all fine until the morning that A wakes up in the body of Justin and meets Justin’s girlfriend, Rhiannon. From that moment, the rules by which A has been living no longer apply. Because finally A has found someone he wants to be with—day in, day out, day after day.
This book was interesting. First, it's a bit of an odd plot to get used to. A is not really a person, A is something that takes over the body for one day. A has no gender and is not in the same place each day. That was really hard for me to wrap my brain around, and in all honesty I think even since finishing it I don't really understand it. My biggest thing is that A get's attached to Rhiannon, and it makes no sense to me. Don't get me wrong, the book itself was written well and it was interesting to read even though the plot confused me a bit. I do have a few issues with this book, even with thinking it was ok. First, why is it that A only goes into bodies in the Maryland area. I would think that A would find bodies all over the continental US or even further away. For some reason A could only inhibit bodies in Maryland, and I thought that was kind of odd. A talks about seeing the world, but I really don't think seeing the world happens in just one state. Also, they seem to get a little preachy about the issue of gay marriage. I have my own personal opinion on the issue, and there is no reason for me to get into my own opinion because that honestly would do no good for anyone. I just have a difficult time reading something that gets preachy about an issue that I have my own personal opinion on, especially when it goes against what I believe in. They also poked a bit of fun at demonic possession saying that it's ridiculous and could never happen. I personally believe that it can happen, and that it is a bit more serious than they let on. Even with that, I thought that it was written in an interesting way, and for some reason I continued to read it and didn't completely hate it. This book is definitely something that I can see people either loving or hating. It's an odd concept to wrap your brain around, but it also tells a story of love and it is honestly quite the love story. Though having those two things work together was kind of different, because sometimes A would be in a body that was 4+ hours away from Rhiannon, and sometimes A seemed to take the body that it was in for granted and take it far away from what it knows to be with this girl that it never knew. This sometimes causes problems, obviously, which leads to the interesting end of the book. This book was ok. I can't say it would be one of my top recommendations for someone, but it was worth the read I think. Now, to choose what to read next...
It pains me to say this. I kind of hate myself for this. I can't believe it has come to this. I have not liked this singer for so long, but it was bound to happen that there is one song that is so catchy, so ridiculous, and so cheesy. And the music video just makes it so much better. Ok, here it goes....
I....like....a song...by...........Justin Bieber.
Ugh, I know right? I have referred to him as a female so many times, and I still consider him to be a female. Before I tell you the song you still must know something important. I DO NOT like Justin Bieber, I just happen to enjoy a song of his. I still think he's obnoxious. I still think he looks and sounds like a girl. I still think he is awkward and should never say the word "swag" (I thought I was too white to use the word "swag" so how does a Canadian get away with it?).
Ok, here's the song:
Oh goodness. I can almost feel the eyes rolls. Please don't judge me. I feel like the only reason I enjoy it is this video. There's that cheesy dancing in the wading part of the pool. I'm not going to lie, through that entire part I watch the dancers behind him and not him. I think that the dance itself is cool, but then there's him. The part that he's singing underwater with the girls around him is creepy, and how does he come up out of the water with perfectly styled hair? I worked at a pool, and I know for a fact that it does not happen like that. The awkward synchronized swimmers part is also a favorite of mine (did I mention early that I really love things that are super cheesy?). But my all time favorite part is when Nicki Minaj comes in. Notice how she is super creepy with Justin Bieber. The word "wiener" is in the song, and it is definitely meant as something sexual and not like a hot dog at a ballpark. And the fact that you can rhyme his ex-girlfriend's name with the word "wiener" is too funny for me. Then there's the awkward body roll together where she's almost grinding on him. AH, this video is filled with awkward, but it's exactly why I like it. I love the awkward, and I love how catchy it is.
Congratulations Bieber, you successfully did something I enjoy. I hate you for this (remember, I love the song and cannot stand the singer. It IS possible).
Friends, please please PLEASE send me to the mental institution if I start liking something from One Direction *shudder*. That would literally be the end of the world.
Yes, I have been internet-less for almost a week. Today is the first day that I have been connected to the world wide web and I never realized how weird it was to not have it. So while unpacking and getting things situated in my new house I have been listening to a lot of music, which brought me back. Back to the days of good old B-Spears, BSB, NSYNC, Xtina, etc. And since I had a great time while going down memory lane I thought I would share a little. So, here's the music of my childhood (in no particular order):
I loved this video. I literally thought it was the coolest thing, ever! And, I knew the dance. Anyone remember Darin's Dance Grooves? Yea, I worked it. And I learned this one. Can I do it now, nope. I am sure it was a valuable life skill at that time and I am thinking of taking some time to relearn the dance. But yes, old school Britney was the best. This song was just one of my many faves.
Oh, here. In case you want to learn the dance:
NSYNC was my boy band of choice. I still love Justin (just not so much Jessica Biel) and this was my absolute favorite song. Why not have their shirts blowing in the absolutely necessary breeze? Seriously, in love. I am having flashbacks of this all right now. My dad, he was not the biggest fan. I remember my sister had to ask for permission to buy me one of their cds for Christmas. Lucky me he said yes, and then they said "damn" in one of their songs. I kept that one a secret for awhile. Ha, ohhh NSYNC. Come back please.
Ah yes, classic Xtina. Not the super raunchy stuff that she has now. Well, I suppose this could be taken fairly dirty, but it's not like some of her songs now. Ok, I guess my dad didn't like when I was singing it. Oops. But I thought she was the coolest. In all honesty she is pretty talented, but when she opens her mouth to talk about anything my head hurts. And she seems to show off too much of her body (obviously someone rubbed her the right way). I loved this though. Still do.
BSB was my number 2 boy band. I didn't like them AS much as NSYNC, but I did think they were pretty awesome. I mean you have to be awesome if you sing a song about being back. This video legitimately creeped me out too (wow, I was super lame wasn't I?) but I watched it like every single time it was on The Disney Channel. Oh man. My favorite.
I'm almost done I promise. But, admit it, you love this.
Oh man, I still love this song. I hear it on KROC every so often. I thought this video was the coolest concept known to man. Like, oh my goodness, they switch rooms until the all red room isn't all red and the blue room isn't all blue. I always was super pumped when this came on. I also thought that their clothes were pretty sweet too. I mean I obviously was not one to show of my stomach but I was like dang, they have cool skirts or pants. And their shoes, so awesome. I definitely regret liking those combinations. But this song is super entertaining.
This is probably the only song I can fully say I remember from these guys. I mean I know I loved those Lachey boy, but for the most part I didn't think their songs were too incredibly memorable. This one, on the other hand, was awesome. I loved it. I still jam to it (on my guilty pleasure playlist on Spotify). Did you hear they are reuniting? It's not the boy band reunion that I really want (seriously NSYNC, get with the program), but it's cool.
Ohh LFO, another group my dad hated. This song was like the best song ever, and I honestly still love listening to it (I loved playing it at the pool this summer. The kids looked at me like I was crazy as I was jamming to this. I basically labeled myself as the old fart guard but whatever, I enjoyed myself). As I listen to this now though I realize that they kind of talk about really random stuff from the 90's. Here's a lyric sample:
Hip Hop Marmalade spic And span,
Met you one summer and it all began
You're the best girl that I ever did see,
The great Larry Bird Jersey 33
When you take a sip you buzz like a hornet
Billy Shakespeare wrote a whole bunch of sonnets
Yea, this was a guilty pleasure. I still jam to it. So random. So funny. This kid was so cool, but then he started dealing dope or something.
This is not everything by far. Though these were my go to listens. I thought I was so cool jamming to these sweet tunes. I danced to them and everything. My sister and I would actually play "dance recital" and some of these tunes were featured in our recitals. We were awesome, so please don't act like you aren't jealous. My dad definitely did not approve of a lot of these artists, but there was on that he did approve of. Some of you may have never heard of them, but when I got their cd it was all I listened to. They were my favorite, and I was obsessed. Well, there were two groups that I loved. So I'll end with those two videos. There is no explanation needed for them. They are cheesy, which seems to be a common theme with my musical tastes (is it any wonder that I have a soft spot for bad pop music?)
An entry or so ago I was talking about my strong belief in the power of prayer. I believe that God answers prayers, all prayers, just not always in the perfect way in which you intend Him to answer them. Lately I've spent a lot of my time praying. There has been so much going on in my life that they only way to deal with it is to turn to God. There's so much going on that I actually want to talk about it, and want to ask anyone who may or may not be reading this a favor (you can ignore this if you are just wanting to read up on me or don't really care, but I thought I could ask this one request)...could you please say a prayer for my family and I as we are trying to figure things out. It's been tough lately and super stressful and it helps to know that I'm not completely alone. It is greatly appreciated if you do, and if you don't I won't really know and won't be offended. So, here's what's been happening:
There's the obvious job search that I've been embarking on. My biggest struggle is not know where we are going to be. Hopefully there will be some army stuff figured out within the next few weeks, but it's so hard to not know. We are still living in my mother's basement and would love to move out and start our own lives. I mean right now even subbing is a bit dead, so I'm praying that something shows up sometime soon. I honestly don't know what to do. I know that turning down that job was the right thing. I can't really tell God He doesn't know what He's talking about, because He does. I just don't know what direction I am going from here. So all of that has been kind of stressful and student loan payments start up soon and I just want to feel like I am capable on contributing. Stress. Bah.
The biggest thing for us lately has been my grandpa. As long as I can remember my grandpa has struggled with depression. He is the type that actually has to be medicated, and not one of those super emotional teens like I was. Pretty sure I never needed the meds they thought about putting me on. Anyway. The fall normally is difficult for him because a lot of my family members happened to die around this time. Like I never fully realized how big it was, but huge. Normally he can pick himself back up, but this time he couldn't. It got to the point where we put him in the hospital for a medication change. Well he's out now, and it's not going much better. He has temporarily moved in to our house (it's getting super crowded here). He is afraid of everything and super paranoid. The medication is not working, and he has gotten to the point where we don't know how independent he can truly be anymore. It's scary. Some of the stuff that scares him is so hard to explain to him. I mean the other day he told me he was in big trouble because he caused a worldwide problem, and he was convinced that it happened. No matter what I said he would not calm down. He seems to think in these instances that I'm too young to understand what's going on, and my aunt had to calm him down. It's gotten to be really hard on our family and we're all just so tired and don't really know what to do anymore. We're hoping and praying to find the best possible option to help him get better. If you have suggestions then please, suggest away.
Those right now are the biggest things right now, and it's like I can't move past them. I feel like I'm completely stuck and can't move forward. I'm praying that soon things turn around. So until that turn around point comes, I'm looking for things to do to kind of keep me feeling positive. Of course actually working for once would help, would it not?
I really like to post songs at the end of things. Not 100% sure why, but it must make me feel better somehow. Enjoy.
Today, we talk about the reason for me being so sad. It definitely has nothing to do with my grandfather who is a bit mentally unstable and driving me crazy. It is definitely all about Justin Timberlake, and his marriage.
As a young girl, I was definitely convinced that we would marry. I know, I know, I had dreams that were too high. But what can I say? My middle school self was convinced (and my elementary school self, and possibly high school self...) that one day we would be together. When I started dating my now husband I think I realized the fact that this would be impossible, but there's always been a small part that thinks you're pretty special Justin. Heck, I even liked you when your hair looked like this:
And even more ridiculous, I liked you when your hair looked like this:
Can I say that this was your best look? No. And looking back at it now I really hope that a part of you regrets it. But I still liked you nonetheless, and my middle school self is so sad today because you are no longer available. I hope your marriage was worth it, worth the heartbreak of my younger self. The rest of this is just going to be some music videos that will help my middle school self move one. A look back at what I once apparently loved. Happy wedding day, Justin Timberlake =[
ahhh yes, 1998. when I first laid eyes on you...
The dance that I tried to learn, and probably never will..
I feel like this one needs no explaining.
Ok, ok. I'll find something to cheer my middle school self up...
